Scoliosis/Spine Center

Special care for developing bones.

Scoliosis is the most common abnormal curvature of the spine that can affect a child’s development through adolescence and adulthood. It is a genetic condition that frequently runs in families. There are different types of scoliosis that can occur at different stages in a child’s development: infantile scoliosis in very young children; juvenile scoliosis in children 10 and younger; and adolescent idiopathic scoliosis in children 10 and older, usually girls. The qualified specialists at The Orthopedic Center have the expertise to treat all of these disorders.

Dr. Rieger is a member of the Scoliosis Research Society, which is a professional group dedicated to generating education and research about scoliosis and potential treatments. His experience and knowledge has contributed to making The Orthopedic Center a leader in treating all forms of scoliosis affecting pediatric and adolescent patients. In addition to his work at The Orthopedic Center, Dr. Rieger provides his expertise at the prestigious New York University.

The Orthopedic Center is dedicated to ensuring the highest quality of life for all patients who have been diagnosed with scoliosis and, therefore, has established a special day in our office for scoliosis patients. On this day, we give patients the opportunity to meet with an orthotist, a specialist in braces that are used to treat scoliosis. Braces are prescribed by The Orthopedic Center's physicians.
